The National History Day organization has a thorough list of helpful research databases here.

The Denver Public Library has detailed guides for many National History Day topics.  Go here to find a complete list of topics they've covered.

your Marin County library card to access the New York Times for newspaper articles about your topic.  Go here to set up an account.  Or use the TimesMachine website to search the New York Times archive here.

EBSCO is a central location for multiple research databases.  Go here to log in using your Marin County library card.

You can find several research data bases for Middle School Students at the Marin Public library. To view them all go here. 

For topics in U.S. History try the National Archives for primary source letters, photographs, films and many others items.

The California Digital Newspaper Collection features over 300,000 issues of California newspapers with over 24,000,000 articles.  Go here to search their database.

The Chronicling America features a collection of newspaper articles dating back to 1789 to 1963.  If your event is between those dates go here to search the archive.

The Library of Congress has a more general search engine the uses most of their databases in one search.  This is a good source for primary source images and photographs. Not so great for more recent events.  Go here to use loc.gov.
